More on pens and ink
Dave tracked down some Waterman
cartridges this morning. Before I loaded
one, I checked it against the Parker
Quink cartridge. The Waterman has a
narrower neck made of what looks like
thinner plastic, and a plastic ball
bearing seal. The Quink one is wider and
thicker, and appears to have a flat
plastic seal. Thankfully, attempting to
put the Quink cartridge in has not
damaged the Waterman, which is writing
very happily now!

On pens and ink
Dave has bought me a gorgeous fountain
pen - a Waterman Audace Summer Night. I
fancied purple ink, but the shop only had
Parker Quink cartridges(*). We were
assured that Parker and Waterman were
owned by the some company and that Parker
cartridges would work in the Waterman.
When we got home, I pushed a cartridge in, firmly, as far as it would go. No ink came out. Squeezed the cartridge, shook the pen, all the normal things, but still no ink. Took the cartridge out - although I had pushed it in as far as it would go, the cartridge was not even pierced - however the plastic around the top looked like it had been bitten into.
I will be waiting to use my new pen until I can get some Waterman cartridges, I think.
(*) I would use bottled ink, but I'm worried about the lid coming off the ink bottle whilst it's in my bag and getting ink all over the place!
